Our Foundation of Trust
Birthcare is a continuous indigenous model of maternal support that nurtures a woman’s physical, emotional, cultural, and spiritual wellbeing throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postpartum period. It extends beyond birth itself by supporting the mother’s recovery and the family’s transition into parenthood.
An Indigenous Home Birth is a planned birth within the comfort of your own home that incorporates respectful, mother-centred care informed by indigenous knowledge, cultural traditions, and holistic wellness practices. Every family’s traditions and preferences are honoured where appropriate.
Our services are designed for women and families seeking personalized, culturally grounded, and holistic support throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and newborn care. Care is tailored to each family’s individual needs, values, and birth preferences.
Yes. While my personal philosophy is rooted in spirituality and indigenous healing traditions, my Birthcare practice is inclusive and respectful of all religions, faiths, cultures, and family customs.
Every family’s beliefs are honoured with dignity and without judgement. Whether your values are rooted in Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, African Traditional Religions, Buddhism, or another spiritual or cultural tradition, your Birthcare experience is thoughtfully adapted to reflect what is meaningful to you and your family.
Where requested, we are happy to support culturally significant birth customs, traditional ceremonies, prayer, moments of reflection, or family rituals, provided they align with safe and respectful maternal care. Our role is never to influence your beliefs, but to create a Birthcare experience where you feel seen, respected, and fully supported throughout your journey into parenthood.
No. Our services complement not replace medical care. We encourage all mothers to receive appropriate antenatal care and work collaboratively with healthcare professionals whenever necessary. If additional medical attention or hospital care is required, referrals or transfers will always be recommended.
The safety of every mother and baby is always our highest priority. Home birth may be an appropriate option for healthy, low-risk pregnancies following appropriate assessment and ongoing monitoring. Every family’s circumstances are unique, and birth plans should always be made in consultation with qualified healthcare providers.
Yes. Birthcare support is available whether you choose a home birth, birth centre, or hospital birth. We continue to provide pregnancy preparation, labour support, postpartum care, and newborn wellness regardless of where your baby is born.
Nurturing Your Birth & Postpartum Journey
Absolutely. We encourage mothers to listen to their bodies and labour in positions that feel most comfortable and supportive. Walking, kneeling, squatting, leaning, sitting, hands-and-knees, using a birth ball, water immersion, and many other physiological birth positions may be used throughout labour. We believe freedom of movement can promote comfort, confidence, and a more positive birth experience.
Yes. Where appropriate and in accordance with the mother’s wishes and the wellbeing of both mother and baby, delayed cord clamping can be supported. This practice allows the umbilical cord to continue transferring blood to the baby for a period after birth before it is clamped and cut.
Birth preferences such as delayed cord clamping are discussed during your Birthcare planning so they can be incorporated into your personalised birth plan whenever possible.
Yes, Lotus Birth may be supported for families who choose this option. A Lotus Birth is the practice of leaving the umbilical cord and placenta attached to the baby until the cord naturally separates, which usually occurs within several days after birth.
Families considering a Lotus Birth will receive education on placenta care, hygiene, handling, and practical considerations so they can make an informed decision that aligns with their personal beliefs and birth preferences.
Absolutely. Where appropriate and requested by the family, we respectfully incorporate cultural traditions, indigenous practices, and meaningful birth rituals into your Birthcare experience.
Yes. Birth is often a deeply personal family experience, and we welcome the presence of your chosen birth partner and loved ones, provided they contribute to a calm, respectful, and supportive birth environment.
During your Birthcare planning, we will discuss who you would like to have present so everyone understands their role in supporting you throughout labour and birth.
Our goal is to create an environment where you feel safe, comfortable, and surrounded by the people who matter most to you.
The wellbeing of mother and baby always comes first. If concerns arise that require medical intervention, we will recommend immediate assessment or transfer to the appropriate healthcare facility while continuing to support the family throughout the process where possible.
Yes. Postpartum care is an essential part of our Birthcare philosophy. Support may include maternal recovery, traditional bodywork, breastfeeding guidance, newborn care, emotional wellbeing, family adjustment, and holistic wellness practices.
Yes. Traditional postpartum bodywork and recovery practices are available for mothers who wish to incorporate indigenous healing traditions into their postpartum journey.
Yes. We offer guidance on newborn wellness, traditional infant care practices, feeding support, soothing techniques, bonding, and helping families confidently navigate the early weeks after birth.
Taking the Next Steps Together
Yes. Every family receives an individually tailored Birthcare plan based on their health, pregnancy, cultural traditions, values, preferences, and desired level of support.
Ideally, families should book as early as possible during pregnancy to ensure availability and allow sufficient time for planning and preparation. However, support may still be available later in pregnancy depending on capacity.
Your consultation allows us to understand your health history, pregnancy journey, birth preferences, family needs, cultural practices, and any questions you may have. Together, we create a Birthcare plan that reflects your individual goals and wishes.
Travel may be available depending on your location. Please contact us to discuss availability and travel arrangements.
Bookings begin with an initial consultation, where we discuss your pregnancy, birth goals, and the support you are seeking. Following your consultation, a personalised Birthcare plan and service package will be recommended based on your family’s individual needs.
Every pregnancy is unique, and every family deserves care that reflects their story. If your question has not been answered here, we welcome you to contact us for a confidential consultation where we can discuss your individual needs and Birthcare journey.
